    NT Hating (Again)

I put a thread up last year about NT hating and why we do it. I might make a few enemies on here for putting this up but I think it's necessary. Please stop blaming NT's for all of your problems. Yes NT's make it hard for us, trust me I know this. I have been bullied my entire life by them and humiliated time and time again. But it is NOT ALL NT's. By writing off people because they aren't an aspie is discrimintation and stereotyping (that's what they all supposedly do to us right?). My point is, yes SOME NT's treat us like shit, but most of them don't know they are doing it and a lot of them are lovable, approachable, friendly, compassionate people who want to understand us and help us. My boyfriend is an NT and he is the most understanding person I have literally ever met in terms of my Aspergers. My mum is NT, my sister is NT as well as a few others and guess what? (You will never believe this!) they are actual decent human beings with the same insecurities we have! Crazy right? *sarcasm* I'm sorry for being like this, I very rarely have rants like this and preach to others, but I'm getting tired of it and I'm getting tired of being public enemy no 1 because I "stick up for the enemy" Keep in mind that a lot of discrimination from their side comes from lack of awareness on Aspergers. Ridiculing them because they are not an aspie is down right ridiculous and treating them badly isn't going to improve their opinion of us. I know what you're thinking, "who the hell is she to tell us what to do?". I'm no one really, I'm just trying to make you stop and think before you encourage hate. If you want to hate anyone, hate me for attempting to be a good person and for getting you to be one too. We are all on the same spectrum people Note: I am not doing this in reference to anything one particular person has said, it is something that I have noticed over time over many discussions and over the course of my lifetime.

    Pretending To Be Normal

It's so draining to pretend to be normal. I feel like I'm wearing a mask, and I have to do this to pretty much everyone. When I'm alone, I usually just read a book or play with my cat and talk to her about my feelings. Do you guys have to do this? Any ways to cope?

    Neurotypical disorder

hi, i came across this article and wanted to share it with you. Based on my experiences, I agree with most if not all of it. What about you? D (Note: The content of this site is a parody. It is not to be taken literally. Help with understanding the humor.) What Is NT? Neurotypical syndrome is a neurobiological disorder characterized by preoccupation with social concerns, delusions of superiority, and obsession with conformity. Neurotypical individuals often assume that their experience of the world is either the only one, or the only correct one. NTs find it difficult to be alone. NTs are often intolerant of seemingly minor differences in others. When in groups NTs are socially and behaviorally rigid, and frequently insist upon the performance of dysfunctional, destructive, and even impossible rituals as a way of maintaining group identity. NTs find it difficult to communicate directly, and have a much higher incidence of lying as compared to persons on the autistic spectrum. NT is believed to be genetic in origin. Autopsies have shown the brain of the neurotypical is typically smaller than that of an autistic individual and may have overdeveloped areas related to social behavior. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Normal Disorders: 666.00 Neurotypic DisorderHow Common Is It? Tragically, as many as 9625 out of every 10,000 individuals may be neurotypical. Are There Any Treatments For NT? There is no known cure for Neurotypical Syndrome. However, many NTs have learned to compensate for their disabilities and interact normally with autistic persons. About a year ago I learned I was on the autistic spectrum. Inspired by this discovery, I read everything I could get my hands on about the autistic spectrum. Much of it makes sense-- for the first time in 41 years, I had a description, albiet an unexpected one, that fit me. But a lot of what I've found out there, mostly written by "experts" and "professionals", has been arrogant, insulting, and just plain wrong. My bête noire of the moment is finding my emotions described as "flat". As someone with considerably greater expertise in my emotions than the "experts", I can state unequivocally that my emotions are not "flat". They are different, yes, but they are most certainly not "flat." Perhaps tomorrow I'll be fired up over being described as "lacking empathy". Or I'll be outraged at an exceptionally clueless "training" method being inflicted upon autistic kids. Or maybe it will be some new paper written by some "expert" from the perspective that neurotypical perception is correct, and my brain is a genetic mistake. My brain is a jewel. I am in awe of the mind that I have. I and my experience of life is not inferior, and may be superior, to the NT experience of life. Hence, this "Institute". Persons on the autistic spectrum and NT supporters are invited to submit papers to the Institute, and to share your observations in "Current Research" (the guestbook). -muskie Copyright © 1998-2002 ISNT@autistics.org. 5. I've noticed some NTs think they are better than us,some NTs understand me,others try to be overbearing, intimidating, and bullying towards me.I really think we should get civil rights so NTs can stop harassing us,I was seriously thinking about becoming an activist a year or 2 ago.We have autism awareness, but we need activists. All I ask is people need to stop harassing us and taking advantage of us.I have to touch on car dealers too, they tend to take advantage of us too.
  6. Has anyone ever had this? It's when a friend or relative (and NT one) doesn't really understand what Aspergers is and when you explain the basic issues - like struggling socially or not being able to motivate yourself or not being good with loud, busy places - they say something like 'Oh well we all struggle with that, don't worry about it!' and they kind of keep doing it. Even when you try and explain that whilst they may have a slight issue with X, Y or Z - we have like, earth shatteringly huge issues with X, Y or Z... It just trivializes our disability
