After years of delaying and trying to keep all of this under wraps, the Department for Work and Pensions has finally been forced to release the number of confirmed deaths arising from its brutal welfare sanctions. At least 2380 people with disabilities have died between 2011 and 2014 due to having been wrongfully declared "fit for work". http://www.theguardian.com/society/2015/aug/27/thousands-died-after-fit-for-work-assessment-dwp-figures See the video below for the testimony of the sister of Mark Wood, a 44 year old Aspie who starved to death after being declared "fit for work".
Is anybody a fan of Aardman Animation? They're the animation studio in the UK that have made movies and TV shows such as Wallace and Gromit, Creature Comforts, Chicken Run, Morph, Shaun the Sheep, Timmy Time, Flushed Away, Pirates!, Rex the Runt, and a music video for a Peter Gabriel song. Before they did Wallace and Gromit (and even before they made the "Morph" and "Creature Comforts" shorts) Aardman made a handful of short films such as Stage Fright, Wat's Pig, Adam, and Not Without My Handbag. I think my favorite Aardman movies and shows are Wallace and Gromit (and the "Were-Rabbit" movie) Chicken Run, Flushed Away, Shaun the Sheep, Timmy Time, Creature Comforts, and Rex the Runt. I haven't seen the Pirates! movies, but I'd like to. One of my aunts really liked "Flushed Away" when she saw it. I think Aardman also did a Creature Comforts series exclusively in the US, too, but I kind of prefer the UK version. And, before Creature Comforts was an actual series, the characters were featured in a series of Electric company commercials, too (following the first short in the late 80's). Aardman also did a series called "Angry Kid," but I don't care for that one as much...it doesn't have the same charm as, say, Wallace and Gromit or Shaun the Sheep, and I kind of prefer the ones that are about talking animals. I think there's going to be a movie about Shaun the Sheep coming out pretty soon...and it might have already been released in parts of the UK. I'd love to see that, too! ...Just to let everyone know, if you do decide to look up the "Not Without My Handbag" short on Youtube, be careful...it's kind of scary; yet scary in a sort of cartoonish, absurd way. Anyone else like Aardman? What are your favorite Aardman movies/series?
I saw this news article the other day. This came up because recently in the UK they've scrapped the tax disk and they're doing it all online now. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29442524 I'm wondering if that boy as Autism. I couldn't find any articles which mentioned it but it seems very likely to me. I mean, who else would collect tax disks like that? And he somehow looks Autistic as well. In that case I suppose that he won't be coping too well with the end of the tax disk in the UK. Any ideas?
