  1. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the world wide web, which began in 1989. This was the same year as the first commercial public use of the internet. I remember when all web addresses I saw began with www, but this is actually just a subdomain. I would like to begin with a list of things the web is not: The web is not the whole internet The web is just one part of the internet. Email also goes between parties over the internet, but not the web. Although the first commercial public use of the internet was the same year as the web began, the only commercial public use at that time was emails between clients of different online service providers. Email existed before then, but one could only send email to other clients of the same service. It has only been 27 years since the web has been available to the general public. The web is not American As noted before, the internet is of American origins, and as are a lot of things to do with computers and the internet, even the free software movement and open content licences originated in that country, but the web was founded by a Brit, Tim Berners-Lee when he worked for Switzerland's C.E.R.N, cern.ch is the oldest domain name. Does that mean that .ch is actually the oldest top-level domain?

    Windows 10

What are your thoughts on Microsoft's newly released Windows 10?
  3. Ok... so several things going on here! 1. My laptop, which has a not registered version of Windows 7, hasn't been able to accept the last 3 updates. Both on shut down and when I attempt manually, they fail with Error Code 80070026. I believe they won't work because it's considered (and might be) a counterfeit version. 2. Since the last 2 failed updates came up, my computer has started having crash dumps every so often, though they seem to be getting more frequent. I've done Avast scans, malwarebytes scan and used CCleaner, but they don't seem to help (only found PUP files, which I removed). I think they're happening due to the failed updates. 3. I would like to just install a legitimate version of Windows 8, so then I can get the free upgrade to Windows 10 next week. So here are my questions!!! 1. Can Windows 8 be installed via download? My laptop doesn't have a CD drive. 2. Where can I safely purchase Windows 8 for the cheapest price? 3. I was going off of the assumption that I need Windows 8 installed before the free release of Windows 10, but the fine print at the bottom of this page makes me think that I can do it at a later date, once I have the Windows 8 installed. 4. Do I need to "reserve my upgrade" to Windows 10? I don't understand if that means taking specific extra steps to make sure I can get it... Any help would be greatly appreciated! I tend to have meltdowns and shut downs when dealing with computery things, so I need all the help I can get. T_T

    Apprenticeship :-)

Hello everybody:-) Back in january I got a chance to ''work'' one week at an IT company, in order to get a feeling for the job and the company. The company only employs people with Aspergers. The first days were really weird, but after that I really started to like it. The first two days I worked in the graphic department. It was fun, but it wasn't something I could do every single day. The other days I worked in the software department. I really enjoyed it and it was fun. On friday the teacher talked with me about how I worked and if I'm suitable for the job. He told me that I have what it takes to do it. So after that he asked me if I could imagine myself working there. My heart really started to dance :-) So I said yes. After that me, my mother and the company had to talk to the insurance, to convince them to pay for my apprenticeship. So on march 31. we talked again. They said that they're going to. The only thing we need to work out is to which school I can go. So I finally have an apprenticeship as application developer :D I can start after I finished my last year at school which is in august. I'm REALLY happy :D Any application developers on here? Thanks for reading! Bye bye

    Writing And Computers

People say I'm very skilled in writing and computers so that's something I need to think about when finding a niche for a job. Also, how do I use these skills for my everyday life? What are some of your skills and talents? I would love to know:) I know Willow writes poetry and loves writing. Willow, how did you get started with that? Thanks!
  6. So I plan to dual boot my little laptop to have both windows (not sure what version) and Ubuntu. I currently have Ubuntu, but a computer friend recently told me that I'd need to install windows first, because it will consume everything. Anyway, I'm not sure what I'm doing here, so if anyone has any advice, questions, links to articles, steps or videos, I'd greatly appreciate you posting it in this thread. I'm kinda lost as how to go about this whole thing. There's so much info online, but I'm not sure what's trustworthy or correct. Any help or guidance for this novice would be FANTASTIC

    Hello! I'm Liza

Hi there! I'm Liza. I am a female and 13 years old. I have not been given a diagnosis yet, and I am still building up courage to approach someone to open up the possibility of me having Aspergers. My strong interest is computers and programming, so I'll always be ready to talk about that. So yes, that is me.
