    Obsessing over people

I'm not sure how many people would be willing to answer these questions, but I'll still post it and post my answer after this first post. When you're obsessing over someone: How do you express your obsessing? What sort of things do you do? How open are you about obsessing over people? Do you tell the person which you're obsessing over that you're obsessing over them? Do you try to hide it? Would you be more open to tell someone who is on the spectrum that you're obsessing over them? Would you mind if someone found out that you're obsessing over them? Anything else you'd like to add? When someone's obsessing over you: If a person were to tell you that they're obsessing over you, how would you take it? Would you freak out? What about if you were to find out on your own they it seems like they're obsessing over you? How would you react? Anything else you'd like to add?

My all consuming obsession/passion is Beethoven so I thought I would start a thread dedicated to him and his music. I'm sure I drive the people on AsperChat crazy sometimes when I talk a lot about Beethoven so here is a place I can talk about Beethoven to my hearts content. (Even if I'm just talking to myself ) So here is a place to post anything about Beethoven- good books, bad books, different recordings/interpretations of his music, little known knowledge, anything and everything. I am currently reading a book about Beethoven. It is really good so far and is very well written. The book is Beethoven. The Music and the Life. By Lewis Lockwood. He approaches Beethoven from a musicians point of view (he is a cellist) and the book was a Pulitzer Prize finalist. I definitely recommend this book.

    Lifetime Obsessions

Ok so by lifetime obsessions I mean ones that have stuck around for literally as long as you can remember. I know that we Aspies will obsess over things and then something else comes along and we obsess over that while the previous obsession loses it's intensity. But does anyone have main obsessions that have never gone away despite others coming and going? Mine are Final Fantasy VII and Hans Zimmer. I don't think I will ever stop obsessing over the two. Even at this moment I literally can't take my eyes off my canvas poster with a picture of Cloud (main chracter of FF7) and I first discovered that game nearly 15 years ago now. Hans Zimmer's music I've loved my whole life, even before I knew who he was I used to watch the Lion King and rewind it to listen to bits of the music. I was 4 years old when that came out! Anyone else want to share their lifetime obessions? (Maybe you already have and I've missed the thread? )

I saw this news article the other day. This came up because recently in the UK they've scrapped the tax disk and they're doing it all online now. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29442524 I'm wondering if that boy as Autism. I couldn't find any articles which mentioned it but it seems very likely to me. I mean, who else would collect tax disks like that? And he somehow looks Autistic as well. In that case I suppose that he won't be coping too well with the end of the tax disk in the UK. Any ideas?
  6. I know a lot of aspies do say they have obsessions - things they have a deep knowledge of and enjoy doing every day or often. The same people can also have "normal" interests, which they don't consider obsessions, just an interest. I also know that an interest can become an obsession over time. But where do you personally draw the line between an interest and an obsession? I find that I don't realise I've become more obsessive about something until looking back in hindsight, but I can't think of any specific criteria which separates obsessiveness from a keen interest.
  7. So, this topic is just for everyone to list some of their weird or interesting collections over the years. I'll start. Odd collections: Clothes hangers: I used to be obsessed with clothes hangers from shops when I was 6 or 7. I couldn't get enough of them and would take them out of shops. I think I may have obtained hundreds of them. More normal collections: Rocks and crystals This is a collection which I used to be obsessive about when I was about 10. I still have this collection and I possess roughly 30 rocks and crystals. Coins I used to be an eager numismatist and I think I have 108 coins from different countries in my collection now. I still enjoy this collection, but I'm not as obsessive as I used to be. Current collection: Rubik's Cubes This is a fairly new collection of mine and as some of you may already know, I am deeply obsessed with it. Some have said that this is turning into an unhealthy addiction, but I don't think so. As of today, I have 8 Rubik's puzzles in my collection, including shapeshifting puzzles, such as my mirror blocks cube. I will most likely buy one tomorrow. Hopefully, it will either be a void cube or a Dayan ZhanChi 3x3x3. Does anyone else have any interesting collections which other people sometimes perceive as being weird?
