Hobbies :)

Is there any difference between a hobby and a special interest? I suppose I could say my hobbies were building up my music collection, learning foreign languages and sci fi.

old capris are easy to care for if you can get the parts, not like todays computer engined cars.cars were simple in the days of escort mk1 and 2,early capris etc,but they do use a lot of gas,but if i owned a capri today the gas prices wouldnt bother me cos i would have to be well off anyway:)minis are the easiest to look after cos so many people ave them as classics at rallys ,good on fuel as well.calibras are lovely but they are gas guzzlers,i got an avensis at the moment 1.8 and its good on petrol with the vvti, but it burns oil:(.

My favourite car is the Vauxhall Nova/Opel Corsa-A, they're cheap & reliable but people keep using them as Auto-Grass/Track cars now & they're becoming very rare & the price keeps going up on them(the white one in top pictures a Nissan Micra, not a Nova if anyones wondering)

This is sad :(

I created the topic for people to talk about their hobbie's if they want, I like discussing mine & am sure other people would too :)

I didn't mean the topic to be one where you just say what your hobby is. Its supposed to be more like chat about your hobby or give an update if you's want :)

It's ok, I get it :) My sister would appreciate the above hobby, she used do hill climbs, that is before she became pregnant and had her baby.

For me, a (my) special interest is more of an obsession, something you enjoy doing to the point you are obsessed with it, something you learn all about and simply have to do in order to keep you happy, otherwise you've get depressed and feel low. An interest or hobbie is something you like doing but can live without

In that case, I have no hobbies... just special interests, lol.

Any of the things I listed are pretty much part of my daily routine.

That's the way I see it anyway, I stopped doing my special interest for about 6 months, and I got depressed and lost all my motivation to do anything (still recovering from this). I can go without doing my hobbies for a long while, sometimes I don't even miss doing them. I guess I don't have a lot of hobbies

Pinky and his brain

As a child I always wanted a Ford Capri 2.8 Injection. I thought it was the coolest car ever.  Well I was only 11 years old.

But as lao tzu said, the old Ford's are not that bad to maintain. Their biggest problem is rust. And they usually have plenty of that. But spare part are not a big problem. You can, most of the time, use part from other Ford models as well. They have a lot of shared parts.

yep ,the engine in mine was a 2.0 capri but it ceased up,so my brother put a 2.0 transit van engine in it and it went like a rocket, but it day last long  about 5-6 months.had to leave it behind to go back to work in wales:(

blimey 25 years ago that, getting old.

some classic cars never get driven anymore, they are practically models(full size),they put em on trailers to preserve em better, you might see them out on a jaunter now and then but they dow use em to go to work in:)

classic cars is a growing buisness, more folks want em as a hobby, and us brits love our cars,if you can learn to restore em you could have a job for life:)
