Toran 1,307 Report post Posted March 2, 2013 I think I have missed out on a lot of these shows as I am more interested in factual or carry out personal research into many areas that Ihave come across in my readings rather than watch t v. In the last several years I watch very little telly only one or two hours when I do and certainly not every day. Are these shows targeted for younger viewers or are they family shows for all ages? I have watched the big bang theory and I do see a lot of myself in sheldon but minus the brains lol. Now ive found out why im different then I do have an interest in how its portrayed on t v so any pointers as to the shows would be helpful.

Here are some wiki pages on the shows I enjoy which have been mentioned here, which include a main character with strong similarities to AS: Bones - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bones_(TV_series) - the character who seems like she has AS is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temperance_%22Bones%22_Brennan Doc Martin - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doc_Martin - the character who seems like he has AS is: Martin Ellingham, but I can't find a wiki page at them moment. Bones is a US crime type drama, with a nice comedy element and excellent characters - but because they're all so deeply developed you really need to start at the start to understand. Not a family show at all. Doc Martin is an English comedy but again, the characters are quite well developed now so it'd be hard to just pick it up. It doesn't contain anything too adult, but a younger audience would struggle with it I think.

Dreammwavves 6 Report post Posted March 11, 2013 Oh, I feel I need to correct something here - As it remains, Dr. John Nash (the subject of 'A Beautiful Mind') did not suffer from AS or HFA - instead, he suffer(s) from paranoid schizophrenia. Dr. Nash is one of my personal heroes - and yes, there are times when he is presented in the film as being somewhat socially acute - 'two helpings of brain and half a helping of heart'. On the topic at hand, I am not familiar with any major portrayals of AS outside of the documentary made of Temple Grandin, /possibly/ that of Sheldon Cooper on TBBT and the documentary/movie based on Mark Zuckerberg (possibly). However, I'm checking out 'Ben X' right now!
