If I remember correctly, Atoms can be accelerated close to the speed of light, however as they approach the speed of light the energy required to accelerate them becomes higher and higher and they effectively gain mass. Photons having zero mass can travel at the speed of light.


As for the stuff we are made from, its true the heavier elements can only be made in supernovae, basically any element past Iron needs more energy than it gives out from fusion.


So really we are all made of star stuff that came from stars billions of years ago.

Thanks for the explanation that makes it a lot clearer I knew id heard about it but wasnt sure about the facts it makes s lot more sence.
