I'm taking a break from the forum

I'm sorry for not checking in as much lately and also not posting much lately. Though I was never as big of a poster as others here.

It is good to read posts from all of you though! 🙂

I hate to say it, but I no longer feel welcome here. There are other places I  can go where making the effort to post is much more rewarding and likely to be appreciated.

You are always welcome, I think what @Dr-David-Banner said is true. Thank you for defending me at some point in my life. I hope you are doing okay.

With ASD you tend to get these "down" periods and feelings of retreating or even feel like not belonging. It happens to most members. Activity is now kind of low again and that too will discourage people to post as you wonder if anyone will be left to browse. I still think running an ASD related forum is kind of hard as we aren't that great at socialising and may get mood swings.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I personally think the administration at some point had mood swings themselves which brought back memories of posts asking whether an aspie is fit to run their own forum. I think that is true to some extent but I personally think a nice NT would probably be best to running a forum where most people have communication deficits. I think NT's are better at dealing with stress and they're more likely to tolerate others who are also struggling.

Maybe Asperclick has had its heyday. lol Everything ends.

Yeah, it's not what it was at some point and it's prime was before I even logged into the forum.

I've been popping in every so often, but I'm more of a thread contributor than a thread stater.

I think everyone from the heyday has grown up, graduated, got a job, stated a family and moved on. It has been many many years now. (It did perk up again in February though, so...)

I'm more a thread starter, not meaning I'm better than communicating that you. Maybe we are the same or maybe you are better. All I know is that I'm awkward but if the other people are awkward too I'll probably fit in somewhat at least.

I wonder what did happen to some of the members who left the forum. I know some didn't graduate and stopped going to school, I hope it's not the same for everyone. I know @Willow is still studying which is good. A lot of improvement happens of the forum, though.

It's always good to see posts - such as on this thread - from members who used to be very active here but have been away. Even if they don't make a regular return it's nice to see news from them. It is perhaps true that as with almost any activity we can reach a point where we feel we don't really have much more to say or our interests move on but it can still be good to pay return visits. I think there are members who would like to be more active but are deterred by the current limited activity on here which means their contributions - whether that be starting a thread or contributing to one - attract limited attention. We then get members checking in less often which can mean they miss a potentially fruitful thread. There aren't any easy answers. Maybe - as Peridot suggested - Asperclick has passed its peak but I think most of us would agree it has still been tremendously useful over the years. It is a community of sorts and there is always a lot of satisfaction in the return of a familiar face, even if it's only a fleeting visit.

Thank you. I hope you are doing good. I hope some can come back too and say what they've been up to lately.

I have started a few threads that still have no replies, for example, one on captioning Willow's videos, and another example.

I saw that thread about the captions and I wanted to do it but realized it would take time which is unpaid.

I would be happy to do it if only @Willow allowed subtitles to be added. If one's video has auto-generated subtitles, one should work form the auto-generated content oneself or allow others to work from it, or else the video might as well have no subs at all.
