Would you be interested in living in such a marketplace ?

Making purchases online is illegal.

Instead there are Galleries.

In the food gallery, there are no isles of stocked prepackaged processed food, instead there are staffed counters, managed by chefs and staffed by a qualified crew...

At one counter, if you order sugar, you get to see sugar come out of fresh sugar cane..and individually bagged just for you.

When you order flour, you get to see fresh wheat, ground into fresh flour, just for you.

When you order cornmeal, you get to see fresh hard corn picked off of the cob and then the corn kernels ground into cornmeal.

When you order coffee.. You get to see and smell fresh coffee beans being roasted and then ground into coffee grinds, and bagged just for you.

 

When you want candy, you get to see the candy canes being freshly made, the cocoa beans roasted and ground and sugar cane being turned into confectioners sugar,  and fresh cows milk being brought in and used.. And the chocolate fudge being made from scratch..

When you want meat... A butcher butcher's the meat and packages it just for you..

When you buy bread, you get to see wheat being ground into flour, and the Bread being baked.

 

You order fish... Well the fish is alive and it's killed, butchered and cooked and prepared any way you want it.. Just for you.

The pasta being made by first grinding the wheat into flour and then turned into dough and run through a pasta machine.

Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Turkeys, Pheasants and Rabbits, alive... Until you order it.

 

You want soda... The soda is made from scratch... Cola is made from Fresh Kolanuts, Cocaine leaves, Sugar cane, and Caramel all that stuff..and turned into a syrup and made into a soda with freshly carbonated water...right in front of you..

Potato chips are made right in front of you from fresh whole potatoes and deep fried in vats of hot oil or baked as you may want, right in front of you.

 

In another section... They don't have cheap junk mass produced clothing... Instead at affordable prices, you get Louis Vuitton, Louboutin, Chanel, Dior, Lacoste, Kickers, Airness, Versace, Gucci, Prada, Giorgio, Armani, Tiffany and Company.

 

In another section...

Carpets and rugs and towels and candles and soaps and shampoos and deodorants and cologne and perfumes and detergents and fabric softeners and cleaning agents and incense and Potpourri are handmade right in front of you.

Grocery Stores are places where food is prepared, manufactured and sold fresh on the spot, by the businesses that create it.
All from fresh, organic ingredients that they purchased from Importers.


For instance...

Fresh fruits are sold, and fruit salads are created by the fruit companies right there in the store, made to order fresh.
-No canned or bagged or frozen fruit is used or sold.
-No preservatives are used.

Fresh vegetables are sold, and fresh Salads are made right there, made to order.

The Bakery company makes the Bread, the pretzels, the Crackers, the Donuts, the Cookies, the Cakes, the Pies, the Turnovers right there, fresh and made to order.
-No Processed prepackaged products are sold.
-No instant mixes are used.
-No preservatives are used.

Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Pork, Venison, Elk and Buffalo meat is freshly butchered by the Butechering business, fresh, butchered when ordered.

Fish, Clams, Oysers, Mussels, Crawfish, Shrimp, Krill, Crab and Lobster is alive on display...
And then killed, butchered, prepared however you want it, and packaged right there, fresh and made to order.

Pasta and Pizza is made 100% right there, from scratch on pasta making machines and Pizza ovens right there, fresh and made to order.

Whole chickens, geese, ducks, pheasants and Rabbits are slaughtered right there, butchered, and prepared however you want it..
Made to order, fresh.

Candy is made from scratch by confectioners, fresh and made to order.

Beer and Soda is crafted and brewed in the beer garden section of the store.
Fresh, made to order.

Restaurant food is made on site, to go..
Fresh and made to order.

Honey is collected from fresh bee hives.
Sugar is extracted from sugar cane on site.

Coffee is freshly roasted, and crafted on site as tea..
Juice is fresh squeezed on site.

to buy art... They have painters, sculptors, Sketch artists right there to make your paintings or wall paper.

Handcrafted furniture from woodshops, and upholstered And made as you watch it being made.

Actually less time than one would think, but a little more than it does currently.

How much more time depends on what it is.

What about non- food items? Things would get REAL EXPENSIVE REAL FAST! How do you accommodate that in your idea? I love the idea, but expense is the problem, especially when volume production is necessary.

Even food would be ridiculously expensive. Clothing, shelter, the list goes on....... For your marketplace to work, you need a very small, very wealthy population. Otherwise you have a lot of hungry, naked, homeless people.

To have fresh sugar cane available in store in temperate zones, you'd either have to export it from the tropics in refrigerated containers or grow it in greenhouses. Either way, both energy-intensive processes, which would inevitably mean higher prices for the consumers. And for what benefit? 

What about the bags for the sugar - would you also produce these in store? Far less efficient than producing them in a separate factory. Have you not heard of economies of scale?

if it could be pulled off and be not to expensive I would probably like it more, most of the time. but imagine ordering a car or buying a house or something
